Karl Bjorå
Karl Bjorå is a guitarst and composer based in Oslo. He has established himself as a strong voice on the Norwegian and European scene for improvised and experimental jazz through his own band and bands such as Emmeluth’s Amoeba, WIZRD, Megalodon Collective and Yes Deer. Besides this he has collaborated frequently with artists like Martin Horntveth from Jaga Jazzist, Kresten Osgood and Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and won the Norwegian award for Young Jazz Musician Of The Year in 2016 with Megalodon Collective.
His bands are often described as cinematic and free of ego, including traditional instruments in non-traditional contexts. The lineup is always changing and the music is structured in such a way that the musicians in the group use their musical identities to construct the sound together on the spot. The music is full of influences from all over the world, but at the same time free from strict genres, which makes for a intense listening experience.
